Velvet fabric starts as a double-layer weave, with a set height of pile warp connecting the top and bottom layers; once woven, the two layers are cut apart to yield two separate pieces of velvet fabric in a single pass.
An intelligent velvet control system manages electronic let-off for ground and pile warp separately, along with electronic pile raising, electronic dobby shedding and electronic confuser weft insertion, keeping tension uniform and pile height accurate throughout the weaving process.
Air jet weft insertion avoids the friction between warp, pile and selvedge yarn that rapier and shuttle looms cause, while confuser relay insertion improves efficiency and cuts energy use, a genuine advantage unique to this air jet approach.
