The drop wire, also called drop pin, hangs on each warp end; if the yarn breaks or goes slack, gravity pulls the wire down; in a mechanical system it drops between serrated bars to lock the stop motion, while in an electrical system it completes a circuit between two contact rails. Either way, the loom typically stops within a single pick of the break.
We offer a qualitative range of stainless steel drop pins in closed and open types for mechanical and electrical warp stop motion, made from steel strip with round edges, deburred for smoothness and polished to minimize yarn friction. Non-standard sizes are available on request.
