Itema was formed in 2012 when three historic weaving machine makers, Somet, Vamatex and Sulzer Textil, merged under one name, combining more than a century of textile engineering expertise. Today the group's rapier, air-jet and projectile looms, led by the R9500 and A9500 series, are used to produce everything from technical textiles to denim and medical fabrics.
